Our testing plan for the 2022-23 school year is as follows. Updated: Sept. 16, 2022

COVID Testing UPDATE

Synapse is no longer requiring surveillance (regular bi-weekly testing) testing for asymptomatic students.

When will testing be needed?

Testing is still required when a student or staff member is experiencing symptoms. Note that anyone with Covid symptoms should stay at home until symptoms are resolving. A negative test will be required for reentry after symptoms.
Testing will also be required intermittently, such as prior to large events or upon return from school breaks. As always, please consult the newsletter and Google Community Calendar for testing days.

3 Things to Know Before Getting Started with Testing

You MUST register with primary health before running your first test (described below).
Accounts are created for each Synapse student. Be sure to include information for the person being tested when you register. If you are under the age to self consent, be sure a parent is present to consent for you. All consents are gathered electronically during this process.
Need help? If you need assistance with registration or have questions about the CA Rapid Antigen Testing Program, you can contact a call center representative Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm PST at 650-275-5419.

Testing Procedure

Testing at Home

Prepare materials for 1 test. Keep second set of materials in the box for another test.
Follow included Instructions for Use.
If you have multiple students to test, you can start another test immediately.
Read result & upload result to Primary Health dashboard. A picture of the result is not required, but recommended. Results should be read between 15 - 30 minutes of taking the test.
As before, if you receive a Positive result, email covid@synapseschool.org for next steps. If your result is Invalid, simply run another antigen test.
Dispose of the used test kit.

Please test your child(ren) at home before coming to school.
Test the morning of, NOT the night before.
As a helpful reminder, testing days can now be found on the community calenda r.
We will continue adding the testing days to the calendar on a weekly basis.

IMPORTANT: You should have already received a request to register with Primary Health. This is our dashboard and allows the school to see testing results. You need to register for each student. You may use your email and phone number, but otherwise, please submit the student’s information (age, vaccination status, etc).

Positive Test Questions

Review our Positive Test Protocols and email covid@synapseschool.org.

What should we do if we receive a positive test result?

In the event of a positive result, please have the individual who tested positive stay home and email the Covid Response Team at covid@synapseschool.org

What if one child/household member tests positive and the other(s) tests negative?

Anyone testing positive should stay home until they have connected with the Covid Team about next steps. Household members with a negative test result may come to campus unless they are experiencing any symptoms, in which case they should also stay home.
